DELIVER

the

MESSAGE

Sounds over-simplified, doesn't it? But, in reality, it's not. Capturing your audience comes down to doing three things, and doing them well... all of them.  Batting two-for-three over a baseball career will make you a Hall of Famer, but capturing your audience requires even better performance.  Regardless of how little or how much help you may need to  Define, Develop and  Deliver, we can help you capture your audience.

KEY

TIPS

One of our goals at  EXACTLYTHEPOINT is to make our clients better, more effective presentation-based communicators by focusing on the three presentation pillars of "Define the PURPOSE", "Develop the STORY", and "Deliver the MESSAGE".  Our list of 50+ helpful tips support these three pillars.  Need all 50+?  E-mail Steve at info@exactlythepoint.com or call him at (904) 728-2969

BEFORE YOU START

#1

CONSIDER FIRST AND FOREMOST THE PURPOSE, AUDIENCE AND METHOD

Will you teach, inform, update, gain consensus, or make a recommendation, for example?  Will you speak to a small group or a large audience and will you use a projector or provide hard copies of your presentation?  These are all important questions to consider before you begin.

USE OF GRAPHICS

#2

GRAPHICS SHOULD NOT OVERWHELM THE AUDIENCE

Don't draw attention away from the slide's message by using elaborate graphics.  Always consider the value that such graphics contribute to your message.  But, a well-designed, professional presentation does lend credibility to your message.

PRESENTATION SUMMARY

#3

PREPARE A SUMMARY TO ORGANIZE YOUR OVERALL MESSAGE AND CONTENT

Group your slides by subject, and then list the slide number, the slide topic, and the slide header.  A presentation summary will help you stay on point and properly sequence important topics within your presentation.

SLIDE HEADERS

#4

YOUR PRESENTATION'S MESSAGE SHOULD BE GLEANED FROM THE HEADERS ALONE

The header is the most important element of the slide - it's at the top of the slider, after all.  Give careful consideration when creating your slide headers.  Also, the elements of each slide, like various charts, bullet points and other graphics support the slide header, not vise-versa.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

#5

TELL YOUR AUDIENCE WHY YOU ARE THERE

Executive-level presentations especially may include several guest speakers, so don't assume the audience knows why you are there.  Tell them using an introduction slide stating the topic, scope and importance of the presentation.
